They're now taking orders for VUDU. $399 for the box plus rental/purchase fees. kinda ouch.

Hrm. Why does this look so familiar? ;D

I can, as I turned down the beta, and all agreements tied to it.. The hardware is real, the quality/performance is definitely subpar for such a costly system. I liken it to an HD Akimbo. Not really on demand. I'm a little bearish on this setup

Defenitely a wait and see product

i heard that not all movies are in HD and there really isn't a good indicator of which are.

my gut is... $399 plus fees for this... or $350/$450 plus fees for an Xbox 360... the Xbox definitely wins.

The content you may or may not have seen is not the actual release content... ;)

but personally I'll stick to buying movies on xbox live at this point..

Netflix streaming has really made vudu obsolete, that and the fact that even when the hardware is free (its included in some TVs now) they still can't sell the stuff.

yup. Not saying I endorse Vudu. Just updating this topic with new information and the interesting twist of Walmart getting involved. I don't think that Vudu can compete much with Netflix streaming and Hulu. Unless Walmart gives a Vudu out for free if you buy a bag of popcorn kind of thing.. lol :)
